Very nice shot.
I grew up in Oklahoma City and often visited Tallgrass and also Lawton/Ft. Sill. I really enjoyed the Buffalo/Bison herds.
That is very nice. I don't care what you call it.

Nope. Bison.

American Heritage Dictionary says buffalo and bison are synonymous. Either is acceptable.

This is a really nice photo of a bison/buffalo. I like that the composition really depicts the prairie area as a large open grassland. I've never visited that place so I don't know if it is or isn't but in this photo it appears that way. Nicely done.

I hate to be pedantic, but... dictionaries accept common usage, they are not Taxonomic reference material. I used to volunteer at the TGPP, and we were specifically taught that there are only two species of Buffalo on this planet, the Cape Buffalo of Africa and the Water Buffalo of Asia. Like their relative the European Bison (also known as the Wisent), our Plains icon is a Bison. A comparison of the Bison to the Water Buffalo shows the obvious differences. Having said that, more people will know what you mean if you use the word Buffalo. That makes it informative, but that doesn't make it correct.
Great picture!!!
