Have any USHERS encountered an ERR symbol in the viewfinder or LCD of their Nikon D500? I'm seriously considering that model, but after chatting with a fellow UHHER I'm rethinking my choice. What are your experiences with the D500? Thanks to Nikon Bill for his insight.

Sometimes caused by a lens, lack of lens or shutter issue.

err has different origins. One is using an older lens and not twisting the aperture ring to wide open.

If you think this is a problem, don't buy it. It would be really silly on your part but heck, it is your money, your choice but mostly your disinformation.

I have a D500 for a few months now and I have not experienced any problem.

I only purchased my D500 a week ago, but have not seen any ERR messages at all. I've been using various zoom and prime lenses, from birding, to portraiture, just to try everything, and have encountered no problems.

The ERR message on any camera usually relates to lens communication, it has nothing to do with the D500 specifically. Quite often it can easily be overcome simply by cleaning the contacts between the lens and the camera body.It is usually caused by operator error if the lens works on other cameras well.

You will NOT get ERR if using an older AF lens and not setting it at minimum aperture, that will result in a FEE message.
Unfortunately some information provided here is clearly "mis-information" and sometimes it take a few other posts to weed out this mis-information.

What specifically is the misinformation you refer to?
Nikon has had this occur and replaced shutter plate units from my understanding.
