Hello Friends
Just playing with a different idea in this image. Think it is worth pursuing?

I find the colors and effect quite beautiful. Only criticism: the elements seem a little too deliberately placed IMO. I suspect this is similar to still life composition (so difficult to get "right"), which I have virtually no experience with; I just know what I like

For me, this appears perhaps just a bit too amorphous. I love the color palette, and the composition is very good ....... and then I wish my eye had something just a bit more in focus to light upon. Still, it raises a certain mood, which is good ...... the colors are lively, boistrous, and teeming with activity.

rborud I like this a great deal... what technique... program... etc did you use??? First impression viewing small is very different from downloaded version.

Yikes!!! on some issues I am polar opposed to both Linda and Bob.

Linda, the key to good composition is to have items well placed to convey a message rather than being helter-sketer. [OK to be non pedantic I will add IMO] we agree on the colors being beautiful and very softly pleasing.

Bob, my chemistry background required me to look up the less specific meaning of the word Amorphous: vague; ill-organized; unclassifiable. Yep, we agree on vague but to me it is an abstract art image, well organized in which I see flowers in transition to another life form. My before eyes focus image was suggestive of angles swirling about a central figure. [for in Ir-religious science guy quite a statement] once focused I could see that these flower abstracts were being blown out of a central volcanic purple cone with lighting inside and organized pleasingly.

Do pardon me, last night was creating writing group night!!

dpullum, I took my own pedantic action by correcting your spelling of skelter in the quote reply

The term is nicely descriptive for this conversation and fits with what Bob said about wanting more in focus and your own about abstract.

For me, the effect absolutely lends itself to abstract and feelings of "boisterous and lively" (Bob). That's why I said the elements felt too deliberately placed. I would enjoy seeing the work taken a bit more into abstract, with fewer defined edges and with the flowers more crowded together. Right now it's kind of bridging two worlds IMO.

This happens to me often - how far to go with a special effect? Of course each viewer has their own level of interpretation and interest too, as indicated here with just a few opinions.

I thank you for your thoughts on the image. I can understand your points. Knowing what you like is indeed having an opinion. Thank you.

You nailed my thoughts right on, make the miasma the center of interest, hence the mood that also settles on me. By the comments by those who did, I feel the image was successful, giving the differences both ways of the comments.

How were you able know what was in my head, you scare me, I love it. As to the how, I used an image I had created last summer ( I will include it with this). I then was able to download an odd program call by the (IMO) dumb name of Photodonut. This program I did not keep for all of the claims much of it was no better than what I already had. Just this one thing seemed nice and I used on the image I am sending. It also seemed quite bugy to me.
But in ending I thank you for your wonderful comments. The starting image will follow and it was what sold.
