LightRoom ver 5.7 problem with edit in

Light Room ver 5.7 Problem
I loaded LR, PS, and other software on a new laptop.
All software is working great by itself.
But when I try to edit in LR nothing happens.
Light room will not let me edit in.
When I right click on a picture in LR then click on edit in I see all my edit programs.
Photoshop CS6, Piccure +, and etc.
But when I click on PS or others addin nothing happens. Ctrl + E don't work also.
Any help or ideals will be great.
I have uninstalled LR and PS and reinstall with the same problem.

Not sure if this is a fix or not, but I found that on my system, LR was giving me problems when I had an android device plugged in. Do you have a phone or tablet connected?

I notice this happens when the image file does not exist on your hard drive any longer or the file was moved outside of doing it in Lightroom.

You help fix my problem, I was using the old catalog, as soon as I made a new catalog LR works great.

The menu at the top is hidden now. Just click on the little tiny triangle at the top center to bring back your menu. Or, hit the letter D on your keyboard to get to the Develop module and start editing in LR.
