I mistakenly snapped an AF-NEX lens adapter to the rear of my Minolta lens. Clicked on with no problem, but will not come off, no matter what. It has a "lock" switch and a release button, neither of which releases the connection. I don't want to have to throw away this nice prime lens. SEE PHOTO.
Thanks for any of your ideas! >Alan

Just take it to a camera repair shop.

Something like that can be extremely frustrating. It's locked solid, but you know you can't apply too much force, or you'll break it. I have a set of extension tubes that release with a similar silver button, but the button slides, rather than getting pushed in. As leftj said, you may need professional help. I would send it to Minolta

Thanks. Unfortunately a repair job would probably cost more than it's worth. >Alan

Thought you said it was a good lens. Can't cost that much to remove the adapter.

I am going to take it to a local camera store which has a great reputation. Thanks for your advice. >Alan

When you put it on again don't snap it, bayonet it!

It is bayonetted. It's mounted correctly. It just wants to stay mounted forever! >Alan

You may try putting it in a cool place for a while. Maybe the metal will shrink enough to let things loosen up.

Have you contacted Fotodiox? It is clearly a problem with the adapter so they should help you.

Probably the locking pin does not clear the hole in the lens mount. You can try sliding a very thin piece of metal, like a feeler gauge, between the lens and the adapter, and try to move it over the pin. This has worked for me in similar situations, but your fit might be too tight. Worth a try.

I had the same problem and tried everything I could think of, but it wouldn't come off. I gave up and tossed it on the shelf for dead. One day I picked it up and tried again. I don't know how it happened, but it just slipped off like it was supposed to. Did I use it again? NO!

I'd suggest that you fiddle some more before giving up on it yourself.
