I think my Nikon D7200 is capable of showing me where the focus point was when the photo was taken. Anyone know about this capability and how to do it?
In the Playback menu go to "playback display options" then select Focus point.
Page 266 in the owners manual.

Tried that before. Doesn't work for me?..
When you view the picture press the top of the rear multi selector. The camera shows two views of the image, each giving different information. One shows the focus point, one does not.

I just went thru it all again and don't know what I'm doing wrong... No matter how I setup the options on playback I only see the focus point dead center. I use single focus point. If I focus on something close then move the camera to a distant object and take the photo, the focus point shown is alwYs in the center no matter what I display. Guess I'm just dense.
When you point the camera to a distant object, do you move the focus point using the multi-selector? If you don't actually move the focus point it will always show in the center.

Ahhhhh. Therein lies the whole ball of wax!!! No I don't move it, so that's the deal. Thanks so much to finally resolve my issue. That won't help me then. I want to focus on a models eyes recompose and shoot. I can't mess with multi selector. Usually aperture solves that automatically, but there are times when I use limited depth of field. Thanks again for clearing that up for me...
The answer is to move the focusing point so it covers the model's eye, then take the picture.

Next to the multi selector on the back of the camera there should be a lock lever. Unlock that lever and you can then move the focus spot using the multi selector, once you have the focus spot where you want it, move the lever back to lock.
