The USS Iowa War Ship is docked now at the L.A. Harbor
The police are guarding it all over and it's an federal offence to approach it untill July 7th.
We snuck pictures of it before police were aware, if you like to get a picture go to cabreo beach, go through the double tree hotel to their patio and use your 300 or 600 lens there are no police there. Good Luck It a Secret:)
I went there and took some shoots sunday.. 6/3/12 ..its not against the law to take pictures...the problem is where they have it docked... there is no public acces.. And the name of the beach you are talking about is Cabrillo beach...
you caint get a really good view of the ship, too much stuff in the way... Might as well wait until they move it again...
We snuck to the ship and the police stopped us, told us it was a federal offence to approach the ship so we went back and went to the double tree hotel and shot the ship on thier patio then we went too far and the police told us we couldn't take pictures OH P.S. The Victoria is out there too. It exciting to get sneeky shots Ninja style ;-)

So, lets see some of your "ninja" pics.
The security guard was probably blowing smoke up you***.
The dock is not open to public access. In fact most big port docks aren't. Dangerous places to be.
There are hundreds of pics of the USS Iowa.
I'd have to scan some of my shots of BB-61. I was aboard her for awhile when I was in Naval Gunfire School at Littlecreek Va. Nothing like it in the world when she fired her big guns.

How about posting some photo's. I was hoping to see some of it being towed out under the Golden Gate Bridge. Saw nothing.
Seemed like it would be a great photo opp.

Uss Iowa War Ship
I thought I saw you their, there were more people there so we left and went to Cabrillo Beach at the Double Tree Hotel Patio and shot the whole ship Then we went back to where you were and the police had gathered, shooing people away.
The USS IOWA WAR SHIP
If you have an itch to see an Iowa- Class Carrier, welcome to Philadelphia! Actually docked in Camden, NJ is the USS JFK, with a great aquarium nearby etc. We go there New Years eve with grandkids- they begin the fireworks with an opening blast from the mid-waist 5 inchers. Scares the bejesus out of out 4 and 2 yr olds! Anyway, come on down! you can go aboard almost any day and tour a lot if the interior. Enjoy!
There is no such thing as an "Iowa-Class Carrier"
The U.S.S. John F. Kennedy, "Big John" is a John F. Kennedy Class Carrier.
