This is the lead on NBCNews.com.

http://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/norway-world-s-best-democracy-we-asked-its-people-why-n720151

Ok....Now that I've gotten my puke bucket, it's very interesting that they didn't allow comments on this piece of tripe. Notice, too, the amazing diversity in the photographs of the Norwegian people....meaning, there ain't none. Norway was painted as being so comfy cozy and wonderfully democratic, with a 20% higher v****g rate than in the U.S.....but then again, the U.S. is the melting pot of the world and always has been. We're probably more diverse than any country on the earth and have the problems that come along with it. So....you want perfect democracy, NBCNews.com? Then go to lily white Norway, where the problems are a WHOLE lot simpler than in the U.S. Flawed democracy? Then why does everybody in the world want to come here and not Norway?

so what's your point? You're whining because we're not number 1? we are the melting pot, and we get a lot of benefit from that fact... the best and brightest are always wanting to come here.

we can't win everything, regardless of what the president says.

As with most of the lamestream media and the goofy left they have forgotten their high school government classes. We are not a democracy, we are a republic. I invite all those who think Norway, Sweden or any other EU country they think is better to please move, we will somehow get along without you.

The point, green? Another i***tic lead story by NBCNews.com meant to disparage America in any way it can.

it's not a lead story, they're reporting on the Economist's annual Democracy Index.

can you argue with their conclusions?

A trust deficit causes the US to become a “flawed democracy”
Trust in political institutions is an essential component of well-functioning democracies. Yet surveys
by Pew, Gallup and other polling agencies have confirmed that public confidence in government
has slumped to historic lows in the US. This has had a corrosive effect on the quality of democracy
in the US, as reflected in the decline in the US score in the Democracy Index. The US president,
Donald Trump, is not to blame for this decline in trust, which predated his e******n, but he was the
beneficiary of it. Popular confidence in political institutions and parties continues to decline in many
other developed countries, too.

If we're going to make America Great again, we need to take a hard look at our faults, no?

His point is well taken, NBC news is unrealistic in its comparison while serving as a propaganda arm of the left. Like he said, you can't compare a lily white country with a population of 5 million people (medium sized city in US) to the complex multicultural society of the US of over 320 million people.

the report is on every democracy on the planet...Norway always wins, get over it. They always win the luge, too.

I guess the big news is that we were downgraded due to our loss of faith in the democratic process.

...how is that unrealistic, considering the DNC's crimes, 17 US intelligence agencies all saying our e******n was manipulated by the Russians, all the libber cry-babies who couldn't believe T***p w*n...

I say that our confidence in our democracy has been slightly eroded... that is realistic, is it not?

Green--you are administering medicine to the dead. You will never get an honest or thoughtful reposes from this crowd.

Their logic begins and ends with "We're Number One!!!"

There are several measures of nation by which we fall short of being on top. Being unable to honestly look at ourselves precludes any prospect for improving.

There is no room for national introspection as long as our great intellectual power is bounded by WE GOOD THEY BAD.

you better brush up before you start teaching here on UHH.

A republic is actually a type of democracy... Technically, our country is a constitutionally limited representative democratic republic. The constitution limits the power of government. We elect representatives, so it's not a pure democracy. But we do elect them by majority rule so it is democratic.

also, in this country, you are allowed to criticize the government without being punished or told to leave.

Your 'republic' story is silly.

What is the difference between a Republic and Democracy?

It is one of the fundamental wishes of Russia that we fail to trust what we stand for, and Trump is helping him to it.

Seventeen intelligence agencies and their findings are a positive step. Kicking Trump's pathetic ass out of office is another.

Perhaps our era is over; any nation that followed George W. Bush to his personal and profitable war certainly deserves no better fate. And now we have an FBI that is an official arm of the Republican Party, and a Republican Party that is the unofficial branch of Vladimir Putin and company.

Perhaps it's better that we just go quietly and shamefully into the darkness, keep our mouths shut, and dream about the good old days.

Green,
Your argument has so many wholes in it. It's starting to look like Swiss Cheese.
Firstly,
You knew what the point was. You just didn't agree with it.
I do give you some credit here. You are not stupid.
Secondly the point made in the topic is valid. Comparing homogenous societies to those that are not is disingenuous.
Moreover, a society will have more problems when "Diversity" enters a society. Look at Sweden now.
I am not debating diversity.
When you import cultures and religions that neither support nor respect diversity you are going to have problems.
I have no problem with Legal Mexican immigration.
When you have a population that moves here to make more here but less than the average and compare that to a culture without that the statistics become irrelevant and flawed.
People get locked into statistics. The statistic becomes their t***h. They throw out all cognitive thinking in praise of the statistics.
There are lots of arguments to debate and defend for and against Trump.
Your argument on this topic(all of them) are weak.
"There are liars, there are damn liars, and then there are statisticians."
and finally.
A free system allows us to verbally defend arguments, including Trumps arguments about the "Free Mainstream Press" not being objective or unfair.
Look at the interviews and coverage from the "Free Press" on OBAMA vs Trump.
If you can say, after you watch that coverage back to back, that the Press is unbiased and fair, you are not objective.
Trump has never advocated that the press is not to be free. It doesn't mean he can't attack them with the same rhetoric they use against him.
The power of the pen or word.
Lincoln freed the s***es, he also went after the press.
Things are just a little different now.
All may be fair in love and war, however, the observer and v**er is the judge of who wins.

"Go where thy wilt, do what thy wilt, and say what thy wilt" but initiate no force.
Saying what thy wilt has penalties on both sides.

Taking a refugee that is forced to leave because of war, where his ideas are different but no better than the people fighting in his on country, is a recipe for disaster.
