Good Morning..

I am in the process of placing some pictures out on SmugMug for some friends/family to purchase if they want. How do I crop so that various sizes can be purchased??? Right now I will have to go back into LR history and uncrop so that they will be able to fit in like 4x6, 5x7, 8x10 etc. I try to fill the frame when I shoot but looks like I will have to pull back a bit so that cropping can be done when pictures are purchased...Hope this make sense..TIA

Are your friends getting the files, or are you having them printed for them?
If they are getting the files, when uploading to the lab, once they select the print size, they'll likely get an error message and be given the option to crop right there and then.

There is no single crop that will "fit" all those sizes. The photo would need to be cropped differently as each of those sizes has a different aspect ration (length to width ratio). Suggest putting it out there in your cameras native aspect ratio which for 35 mm is 2x3 or any multiple of 2x3 such as 4x6 8x12, 12x18 etc. this would allow the purchaser the ability to crop to whatever size and aspect ratio desired starting with the complete frame

I believe if you open them in LR and click on the Crop button you'll see the whole image with an overlay showing where it's been cropped. Then you can move the tool around wherever you want. No need to go through the history. Or you could hit Reset and clear all edits but then you lose all the other settings you've adjusted.
