The following video was produced by me in 2013 using Adobe Premier Pro.
Premier pro can create the "Ken Burns effect" giving your photos more life.
Their are a few products that you can do this with.
If you're on a MAC Platform Premier Pro works well.
Pro Show would be my choice on a PC.
An example of some of my work. The music was coordinated with the pictures.

Well done slide show! Dramatic, Almost scary! What did you use to achieve the high contrast B&W?

FWIW, Adobe Premier Elements will do the exactly the same type still photo slideshow video with the Pan and Zoom, aka Ken Burns, effect. It runs equally well on both Apples and PCs. It can use any still file format including original RAW files.

I think I would enjoy Premier Pro, except for the price. Premier Elements is a heck of a lot cheaper than getting access to the current version of Premiere Pro! Premiere Elements is normally about $100 but will get down to about $60 a couple times a year. Premiere Pro is $20 a month or included with the all in $50 a month plan.

I've never used Pro Show, so don't know how it compares.

I've never done a complete still photo slide show for you to watch. But, also in 2013 I put together a "hybrid" video using Premiere Elements where I mixed video clips with stills using the pan and zoom effect. At the time I was beginning to experiment with HDR, so the stills in the "hybrid" are 3 shot brackets processed in Nik HDR Pro.

It really should have been shot in "golden hour" light, but perhaps you'll enjoy a bit of the Grand Canyon anyway: https://vimeo.com/64474485

Wonderful! You really bring out character and a distinctive look in those men!

I have been a long time admirer of your b&W images Russ. My opinion of this video - magnificent. Any thing else I added would only detract from how I feel about what I just saw.
I am a big user of Pro Show Gold for this sort of thing but thwe videos I make are of my grand daughters life and her mum doesn't want them on the net. Nor do i actually.

Thanks.
I used photoshop. I've spent a lot of time learning how to immulate the look of various B&W film. For most of my work I try and pull my blacks and whites apart. Some of my work has a heavy midtone look. It just depends. I try and match B&W tone with facial expression to form mood. I use mainly PS curves to do so.
Thanks for the supplemental info.

Thank you!
Special thanks for the info on proshow gold.
I wish it was available on a MAC.

Wonderful video. Thanks for the link. I'm curious, what size images did you use?

Very compelling, dramatic and exceptional! You obviously weren't afraid to approach these men up close and personal. They all look like they have a story to tell.
I am new to video but enjoy it. I am not very knowledgable of post in video and what I have done has been very tedious and time consuming so I try to be careful while I am shooting video to minimize the post.

When the images are imported into Premier Pro they were 1600 dpi on the largest side.
I set the image width and save for web in JPEG high quality. Then import.
I could probably have made them smaller and not lost anything.
The video was produced in 1080P so the image width on import should have been sufficient.
Someone else here can probably give more information about what is best.
My goal in the end was to produce a high quality video for YouTube that wouldn't cause problem with people with lower Internet bandwidth.

Thank you for your compliment and best wishes.
Russ

One of the things I like about the "Ken Burns" effect is that it helps give images life, similar to a video shoot.
I spent quite a few hours on the street(and under bridges) shooting these guys, Homeless shelters are a good place to start.
I have eaten a few meals with many of the people that I took images of. The Drama factor is pretty high, so is the interest factor.
Thank you.

Rather than take this off topic here, if you post a PP question in the Video for DSLR section, I would enjoy offering you an efficient path to a dramatic increase in video capability that will take advantage of your GX8's features.

Thanks for including the music credit. "Dives and Lazarus" is a powerful story itself but I had to Google the lyrics. Very fitting.

I thought the music worked well. I actually took some of the pictures to fit the music.
It's a good idea to coordinate the mood of the music with the images.
I was big fan of Martin Simpson.
The music was purchased.

Thank you for your comment.
