One more papermill plant photo.
In actuality, the smoke is more white and less defined.

I remember visting W. VA long ago and you could smell the paper mill 30 miles away. There was so much sulfur in the air the employees drove though a car wash coming in and out of the plant lot.

I lived about 20 miles south of this papermill plant. It's been cleaned up now (thanks EPA), but if the wind was blowing from their direction, there would be a thin deposit of yellow sulfur on our cars in the morning. And, yes, the air smelled bad.

I have hauled thousands of tons of paper out of those old paper mills from Maine to Florida and the mid west some smelled much worse than others.

That mill, now, doesn't smell particularly bad. It certainly did before clean-up. Smoke is now mostly white vs yellow before.

That "smoke" is actually steam. Pulp and Paper mills use lots and lots of it. Having made my living in that industry I think it smells like money! $! 😊 They've pretty much cleaned them all up or shut them down these days.

Thanks for the info. I didn't know what produced the voluminous smoke. That's really what I wanted to capture.
I've heard the "ISLM" comment from other folks who also welcome their paper mill. :-)
