I just called to book the Photographers tour for our trip in May. I was told by Dixie Tours and Ken's tours that they will not run the Photographers tours from March through late fall.

I'm booking the Upper Canyon tour, but the cost is 3X...

You're traveling a long ways to shoot Lake Powell and Antelope Canyons. Your tour cost are minimal considering your travel expense. Shoot BOTH CANYONS even if one of them is a normal tour. You'll be pleased with your results.

While you are in Page, the only place to stay, literally, don't miss Horseshoe Bend, just outside town to the south. I did, and I've been kicking myself ever since.

Look into the "Secret Canyon". www.hummeradventures.com
Much less crowded and less expensive.

I agree. Slightly more expensive but well worth it. I have done it twice, once I was the only person, the other was with a family of three. Great pictures and the fun of a hummer drive.

Check the weather. With all the rain we've been having, slot canyons are not a great place to be.

I live in Utah and I rented a boat with an outboard motor in Wahweep so that I could go into Antelope Canyon. It was easy and very beautiful and you won't get lost because the canyon is very close to Wahweep, where you can rent a boat. It would be a good idea to contact the Wahweep marina to find out the boat rental price and when you can reserve a boat. Have a great time in the red rock country...it's spectacular.

Not sure how serious you are about photography. Years ago I was recommended to use X-Canyon Tours. My guide was a Navajo female photographer who picked us up at our hotel in Page, took us to a private canyon. We hiked and shot the private canyon which was awesome, had lunch then when to Upper Antelope Canyon. This was an all day trip for approximately $200.00 each. I added a few images from that day.

Those are million dollar photos! That trip was a true bargain for $200 a pop. GREAT photography. Best regards, Ricker

We were there in early Oct. last year, the Lower photog. tour was a joke, the Chinese come in by the bus loads and the tour operators can't keep up.
My guide tried, I did get some decent shots, but it's hard for the guides to keep the hordes of people out of your way. Four years earlier when we were there was a completely different story. The upper tour seems so much more organized, I took that tour but not the photography so I could go with my wife. No tripod allowed unless you take the photographers tour. Horseshoe bend is crazy for sunset nowadays, I went for sunrise before the crowds, the clouds worked to my advantage to even out the lighting and I was very happy with the results. Page is just crazy anymore.
