Oak Alley trees are about 400 years old and the House is about 200 years old. There are 28 Live Oak Trees equally spaced.
Pic 1 is from the Levee to the house
pic 2 is from the house to the Levee
pic 3 is Live Oak gone to ground
pic 4 & 5 I don't know what kind of flower
Walls in the house are 2 foot plus thick plastered on both sides and filled with a mixture of gumbo and straw. The inside temperature is 20 degrees cooler than outside.
Katrina blew 3-4 shingles (slate) off the roof. There was no other damage from the Hurricane.
A magnificent place to visit.

When we toured it they told us that at one time, when the home was empty and in disrepair, cattle roamed in and out. Hard to imagine when you see the place.
