I guess the Dr, hasn't heard the saying "THERE'S A VERY THIN LINE BETWEEN A GENIUS AND INSANITY'.

There is a fine line between genius and madness because they share the same genes, scientists have found. Psychologists have discovered that creative people have a gene in common which is also linked to psychosis and depression

Pale, I'm SOOO, glad you posted that.
Because I was beginning to get a bit nervous.
What was tenuous was paying that Dr. to vcome there and say that!

Actually, trump is a maverick(somewhat), but he is certainly no genius! A genius has a high IQ, and IQ's are easy to find these days on guy's like trump.
He's not exactly even a self-made man.
For a guy that was born with a golden spoon the size of a toilet, IF he were even a genius of a businessman he would not have had to declare bankruptcy several times and the other times he bailed out by DAD. It takes no genius to see that.
Line up 100 credible Psychologist and see how many will put their reputations on the line and call him a genius?
Just like the climate debate. 97% of Scientist will tell you it's real. If you go with the other 3%, it doesn't mean your right!
Frankly Pale, I'm surprised your such a conservative.
I assume you would beam with p***e if your children talked about grabbing women by the pussy and acted in public the way trump behaves in public.
That his style is different, was an understatement.
That he is the ONLY world leader to behave the way he does should tell you something. Oh, wait, it's a bit reminiscent of the North Korean's behavior, except he just doesn't tweet every time he farts!!! LoL

Actually I consider myself classically liberal.
I guess you could say I left the Left.
There was no place for me in the Democratic party anymore.
I v**ed for Gary Johnson. He actually did pretty well compared to other Libertarian runs.
I don't listen too much to statistics or polls. I will post one every now and again especially if it's the opposite of every other poll.
You might want to keep a little more current on climate. In 10 years the protestors will be on to something else.
I have stated this before.
I am part of the 97 percent that agree the climate is changing.
I am part of the 97 percent that agree man is causing some of the c*****e c****e.
I am part of the 50 percent that believe there is nothing we can do about it.
I am part of the 50 percent that believes that the Sun has more to do with it than CO2, including scientist.
Don't get me wrong...Smoking will k**l ya.
I have no problems protecting your airspace from mine..... That's just the "Tragedy of the Commons"
So yes the EPA serves a purpose.
Temperatures have been great here. Milder winters and cooler summers.
I really could care less what someone is given and taught about finance from their father. That's what I did to my kids.
I paid for them both to be Doctors.
Not only do I not think one race is better than another I also don't think rich people are better or worse than poor people.
What I told my kids is the world needs Hamburger flippers too. Don't expect to do as well as a Doctor if you want to dig a ditch.
Don't expect the Doctor to pay for you.
I'm actually glad that we still live in a country where people have the opportunity to get rich.
I support the people to be able to choose.
Unfortunately the more I post here the less rich I get.
Whining and protesting has a natural penalty. It's kinda like flipping burgers.
You do the same thing over and over and you don't heal anyone and you don't build buildings, you flip the patty and put it on a bun for all to eat.
You have no right to get rich by doing so.
I need to quit penalizing myself. I don't want to become part of the new whining left. It's not working out to well at the moment.
I need to change again. Maybe tomorrow.
and No I do not think Trump is psycho.
I like what the Doctor said...Crazy like fox.
The U.S. republic is a funny thing. Sometimes it doesn't give you what you want. Perhaps it gives you what you need. Only Perhaps.

Then I'll sssume you google the Dr. I didxsfter I responded.
He's actually a quack!
Yes he is a Dr, but gave up his medical relations (-7 years ago. Works no for an ultra conservative TV/radio show out of Texas.
Makes his living giving those analyses of famous people as a commentary on Fox and the Texas stations.
Read what he said about Obama, just the opposite!
Apparently the medical community views what he does as "unethical". It's political, not medical. He's never met all the people he diagnoses.

With c*****e c****e, we HAVE to error on the side of caution, not politics or uneducated gullible people.
I know a lot about c*****e c****es. My formal training and early work was as an Archeologist. So I know a lot about things like ice ages and altithermals. And even though the concepts and science of altithermals has changed, this is scientifically not an altithermal. :-)

Sorry I don't dismiss people because others say they are a quack. No I don't do a lot of research on people I know or like or agree or disagree with.
I listen to their argument.
Now I do know quite a bit about the founders of the country. I;m a history buff(some would say fanatic) I worked for the government in statistics and "related stuff" for 15 years.
So you may know a bit about climate. I will tell you I know a bit about government statistics and how data is used to make those statistics.
There was a saying where I worked...."There are liars, there are damn liars and then there are statisticians."
Get a copy of NCR sometime.
Tell me about the 2002-2103 climate Hiatus.
Tell me about the official that just worked for NOAA that came forward about NOAA manufacturing data.
http://science.house.gov/news/press-releases/former-noaa-scientist-confirms-colleagues-manipulated-climate-records
or
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2017/feb/5/c*****e-c****e-whistleblower-alleges-noaa-manipula/
or
In the 1930's the record fluctuations where much worse....From the epa....
http://www.epa.gov/climate-indicators/c*****e-c****e-indicators-high-and-low-temperatures
NOAA likes to add ocean temperatures to show total earth temperature not just Atmospheric temperature.
It skews the results. They also like to keep temperature meters in Parking lots....That's true.
Garbage in....Garbage out...
They also like to manufacture oceanic meters between real oceanic meters to "Complete their data"

No matter how you're educated you can only get climate data from the three sources that produce it. NOAA owns the ocean data.
When you are funded by a government. You better tow the line or retire.
Same for university funding and it's not just specific to climate.
There is always a bureaucrat looking at your grant determining if your project is "Interesting enough for funding".
I know this because my son studying to be a Doctor is working at Vanderbilt attempting to get funding.
The problem with climate is it has gotten so politicized that agenda's are promoted and decent is not tolerated.
That is one thing that I see changing, very soon.
It is possible that in a few years I may believe that man and more specifically the U.S. is contributing enough to c*****e c****e that warrants a policy to promote alternative energies that are less economically viable. I see no reason to penalize the poor today to perhaps save some immeasurable amount of humans in the future.
That could change for me at some time. For me to change the idea has to be de-politicized.
I really think the climate nuts are hurting their on cause. The nature of science is to be skeptical.
Scientist may say the climate is warming. You need to be much more than that to determine what if anything should be done...or can be done.
I'm a scientist too.(LOL) With a degree in Computer science and a minor in Mathematics short about 10 hours from a degree in Electrical engineering.
So I'm not very smart but I do like to think I am reasonable.
P.S. I did work for Enron in the Oil industry for a few years...So yes I do know what a crook looks and acts like.

A final note. I am not a c*****e c****e denier. I am also not denying that man plays apart.
I certainly don't deny the cost associated with going green.
I don't deny that the poor will pay a disproportionate amount of going green.
I don't deny that I don't like penalizing the poor for jacking up the cost of their utility bills.
I am a non denier.

You can look at my other threads I have posted on this topic. Lots of info from both sides.

Hey PalePictures,

not enough can be said about how
statistics can be used to mislead.

Here in Victoria, Australia the
automotive related death toll has been steadily decreasing over the last
25 years.

VicRoads, our road traffic authority has claimed for decades what a wonderful
job they have been doing reducing the deaths, by imposing draconian penalties... $250 fine
for exceeding the speed limit by less than 4mph... There's "speed" cameras everywhere. For
less than 30mph over the speed limit and you can have your car "confiscated".

They make no mention of how car makers have improved structural design to improve the safety
of occupants and that airbags save the either.

Meanwhile everywhere, you go you see crashed cars and wealthy panel beaters... because drivers
dare not take their eyes off the speedo, instead of watching where they are going.

If we were all still driving cars of the 60s and early 70s with penalties as they are now
the population of this state would be decimated... thanks to VicRoads.

Obviously this is just someone taking credit for a statistic that belongs to some one else...
which is a different matter for say:

The thermal expansion of material "A" is 100% more than material "B".

100% to the uninitiated would seem a lot.
However from a freezing 32F to a blistering 122f, if you were to roof your house in material "A" it would expand less than 1/20th of an inch more than
material "B" over a 30ft length ... Assuming: Material "B" expands .0001" per metre, per degree celsius.

This is barely the tip of the iceberg, of the way statistics can be used to mislead.

Since you threw it out there, do yourself a favor and research how that endlessly parroted "97% of Scientist..." number was actually derived.

Barely the tip.........
It amazes me how seemingly intelligent people buy into it. They loose their ability to reason. The statistics override logic.
