Our trip to Cape York held many perils. From fires, to many amazing tracks and water crossings that seemed unpassable. This section was called "Gunshot" because of the steep decent of the track that you needed to pass through. There was a chicken track for those that did not want to attempt this but unfortunately due to extreme rainfall prior to us arriving here, it was impossible. Numerous cars had been bogged in this section with the added hazard of a few trees down as well. The first photo marks the start of the Telegraph Track which is the old telegraph service maintenance line, long been disused and only used for 4 x 4 drives today. Hope you enjoy.
The start of the Telegraph Track.
We watched Quads go through before us.
Gunshot
Start of the Chicken Track.
Gunshot and Little Gunshot that was worse due to tree stumps burried in the mud.
Gunshot closeup
Our car and camper.
Friends car taking the drop.
Us getting ready to drop into Gunshot. I was not in the car but still held my breath as the car went down.
Almost unbelievable images, Thanks!

I think that's crazy but well done you and your husband for pulling it off. I wouldn't even try. Thanks for the pictorial story.

Wow!! That is crazy!!! You are hard core campers for sure.:):) Very nice shots of your camper!
You are definitely my kind of people . Live life and add some spice , never dull. Kudos
how the heck to you get back up?????
Some people do do it the other way, not us we were on a mission to the tip of Australia and came back down a different route for a change of scenery. Will go back again because 5 weeks was not enough to explore and some tracks were closed because of the rain earlier that month..

Wonderful shots, goforthegold! I don't think I'd try some of the things those cars are trying!! Love the tree with all the license plates on it!
So sorry, Karenn..called you the wrong name! :(
That's OK and yes I find it a little scary at times. But it is still exciting.
