I thought you might get a chuckle out of the headline. Visited the George C Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary yesterday. It was beautiful, 50's and sunny for a change.
This sanctuary is across the border in Delta BC Canada. It is about a 45 minute trip, but well worth it. You almost literally have to shove ducks out of your way in places. There are hawks, owls, eagles, woodpeckers, sandhill cranes and of course all sorts of waterfowl.
I shot these with my D810 and 28-300 Nikon lens. My question is: do you who have the 200-500 Nikon, think that I can get a noticeable difference in sharpness if I move up?
Thanks for any input.

Thoroughly enjoyed both the title and the shots!
To answer your question, I have both those lenses. At close range you won't see much difference in clarity. Especially the hand shots. The 200-500 will focus in to about 5 feet but you need to back up to about 12 feet to get the bird and hand in the frame. But at further distances the 200-500 will win.
Thank you. I need a little more reach most of the time around here. Living on a boat, I am surrounded by waterfowl. Also, Herons and of course, Bald Eagles.
With my D810, I could probably get away with a 1.4 TC
