Airship Akron Over Corfe Castle

....sort of. This is a composite using a negative I bought a while back, taken inside the cockpit of the Akron. I have wanted to try bring together old images in b&w and my own recent colour images. This is the first serious attempt and, whilst far from perfect, is pleasing me. I think there is potential in this lark. What do you think of it please, and any suggestion welcomed. By the way, anyone interested in the Akron can get loads of info via google. Interesting story about the pilot as well.

That's very pleasing. It could well be a poster for a film.

My compositing skills are not up to your level; and, as such, I think you put this together very nicely. Not sure I like the red cast so much; but then again, that could be the color of cockpit illumination under certain conditions I imagine. So, this is not really that much of a stretch. Quite convincing and certainly eye catching. Well done.

Thanks Erich. I chose red in the initial conversion - I suppose green or blue might also be a cockpit colour? The point is, it started as a b&w image, so I needed something that would colour the greys and look acceptable. Also wanted the drama of a night effect, so mated it with a sunset shot (hope you noticed the castle silhouette!). The pilots view has been made a bit more panoramic by removing a couple of window struts.

Thanks Linda, but do I get the feeling the composites are getting a bit boring? Not real photography eh? What else is a man to do on a grey afternoon?

I'm a big proponent of doing what brings you joy. When you start getting zero responses to your topics, then maybe post something different?

Yes, I did notice the castle. Looks really cool in this shot.

A definitely do not think composites are boring. They are, for me, quite fascinating. Oh, and they are definitely photography.

Quite nicely executed, magnetoman. It's definitely a really intriguing image and would likely make a nice large print.

Sounds like you spotted it was a quick one Bob! No detailed masking, just a brush, three layers and associated clipping masks. It's a test to see if the idea works but it won't for what I really want to do. Never mind, think of something else!
