My first DSLR was a D90. I don't use it much anymore, but I should.

My wife uses a D90 nearly every day coupled with a Tamron 15-270 (I think) lens and does very well. The D90 may be old but it still can compete with most everything depending on the need. We love it and have had it for years. Welcome to the Forum and jump right in.

Welcome. The D-90 is a very nice camera to learn with. I still have mine, but use my D-800 almost all the time. Happy shooting.

Welcome to the HOG. I imagine the D90 is a step up from the D70 I had. You should be able to have lots of fun with nice results.

The Nikon D90 is an absolute workhorse. Quite sturdy, and 12Mp sensor ain't too bad.

My first camera was a D90. If it wasn't stolen I'd still be using it. You can get a lot of enjoyment with it, and it's a great camera to learn photography.

If you use a speedlight, one feature I think many may overlook is the pop-up flash on the D90 can operate as a "commander" for off-camera flashes.
It can be used to control the output of several compatible speedlights from the camera in TTL or manual mode.
In my website link below, look for the photos of the kids looking into the Christmas present box. That was shot with a D300 (very similar in features to the D90) using 2 Nikon SB800's with the pop-up flash on the camera as a commander.
