These cattle are on my son's property in Jindabyne. He often gets snow here and is only a short drive to the Snowy Mountains in Australia. I love these cattle with their short legs, long fur and huge horns. They are very friendly breed and can be hand feed with the bull being the quietest of the group. Their horns can span 6 feet/1 1/2 metres long.

Their newest Bull.

Interesting story and nice shots Karenn. Is you son breeding the breed now?

We had a family up the road that had a few of these. They have such a cool look (as cattle go). I enjoy when a picture is posted and the information teaches me something. Thanks for the pics and info!

Good morning from Wisconsin!

Yes, but they only have 150 acres so the heard will always be small. They will sell them to other farms for breeding not as meat.

They are cute! Maybe it's the shaggy hair covering their eyes? Nice pics, Karenn.

We loved the "wooly burgers" when we toured Scotland with our then young sons in the early 1980s.

Surprised they thrive in your climate.

In Jindabyne it doesn't get over 35 degrees and would only get that on odd occasions. My sons property is at 1200 metres above see level and often gets snow in the cooler months. On our hot days in Sydney they would be 20 degrees cooler. Perfect climate really.
