Seeking plu-in advice.

Can anybody offer some advice about Landscape Pro software or any thoughts about products offered by Seim. I had never heard of Seim until recently. Is it a new company. Their products do seem interesting. Sorry about the typo in my title.

I have used plug-ins to LR but no longer do except for Show Focus Points. Plug-ins mainly have a more intuitive interface and many more presets. However, most of what they do, you can do in LR or PS. They also lead to a lot of tasteless over-processing.

The real question is what do you think Landscape Pro will do that LR cannot. You would be surprised how much LR and PS do if you look at tv.adobe.com and youtube. Good luck.

Early on, I was enamored with plugins. I've since learned to save my money, as I can accomplish all that they do without them.

Gotta agree with you, Bob. I always tweaked whatever a plugin did and generally ended up making more work for myself. It doesn't take long to discover what works for your personal style and preference and the mechanics of getting it done. Some argue that, for production work, plugins save time and that may be so but, a tailor made action/preset certainly doesn't take long make...

I have tons of presets and actions. When I see that I'm doing, essentially, the same set of processes over and over, I create an action or a preset. They work phenomenally well, at the cost of only my time to create them. Once created, they save a good deal of time.

I agree with you Bob, except for NIK's "Structure". It's different from Photoshop's "Clarity" and I've not been able to duplicate it in Photoshop. It's about the only thing in NIK plug-ins I use, altho I'm fond of some of NIK's sharpening tools.

If im doing the same thing to 3 or more pics I create an action. Its only 3 or 4 extra clicks. but saves a ton of work.
Recently I was out shooting and everything had a blue tint, yup white balance wasn't set correctly. Created an action and fixed the whole set in just a few minutes.
