The Orchid show that is
The show featured Vanilla Orchids, however I only found one starting to bloom.
I do find Orchids to be very sensual.
Here are a few that hopefully are in sharp focus, Nikon D7100, Nikkor 60mm,2.8 macro iso 1600, most shot with ambient light & handheld.

Thank you very much !!!
I usually avoid the Show, because of them not allowing tripods and I can't handhold my 200mm macro without flash.

Great shots. I have many similar Orchid images of many of the exact same species and varieties. The ambient lighting is the hardest part for me. Well, that and if I do try to use a tripod having too many people around in a tight place. Wow, you must be in a really dark location. I think I've been able to shoot many of mine at F/4 @ 1/100 s at ISO 800.

A favorite Orchid shooting location is the Los Angeles County Arboretum in Arcadia, CA. Other nice locations are the H.E. Huntington Botanical Gardens, San Marino, CA. They have a really new and spacious Orchid House. Perhaps slightly brighter than the Arboretum Orchid House. Once I traveled further to the Carlsbad Flower Fields in Carlsbad, CA (next to Legoland, CA). They have many types of flowers outdoors but there is a Orchid house with completely different types of Orchids (different Genus?).

Eventually I plan to move to a second home in a much cooler and damper area of California, near the Ocean actually. I am thinking I may try buying some Orchids to photograph at home from time to time. I understand Orchids are generally hard and complex to keep, grow, or propagate. But I can enjoy a plant for some time. L.A. County is nearly a desert much of the time.

Thank you very much.
The high iso was because IM not very steady any more there was plenty of light, had I been able to use a tripod I could have shot around iso 200 or even less.

OK, I get it. I had a classmate who shakes so much that the instructor had to explain to him to use high shutters speeds at all times and if that was not possible to pass on the shot. He was getting frustrated not being able to get the quality that most of the rest of us were getting. What actually bothered me more was that he had taken many classes before one instructor figured out how to help him. I have arthritis so it is hard for me too. A few years ago I could hand hold down to 1/15 s with say a 35mm or 50mm, but no longer!

Great shot in any case.

Downright gorgeous. I discovered flower shows very late in life, shortly after I discovered digital cameras can create wonderful images from these wonders of nature. Good selection, great processing.

Very little processing, sharpening, a slight exp adjustment and a shadow recovery
