Is it possible to use a flash drive to transfer RAW images from one computer to another, and if so is there loss? Also what would be the best flash drive to use? My cameras are not recognized by my Windows 10 computer so my computer person has reinstalled my Windows XP as a partner to do Canon 10D tethered shooting and choose images to import from my Ricoh GR. Many thanks for your answers : )

Of course a flash drive is just another kind of hard drive really files copied to and from it are precisely identical.
copy away it is no problem at all.

No problem. You can do it with a flash drive. If you are using a laptop, make sure the battery is charged or use an AC Adapter.

Yes, do it frequently. Absolutely no problems ever. I use Windows 10.

Just DO NOT drop the drive. If you do the images will be blurry.

You can even use your card reader and your memory card to do this.

You might want to consider downloading the Codec (and possibly the latest firmware) from Canon for your 10D - https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/support/details/supplies-accessories/service-plans-carepaks-software-books/canon-raw-codec-software

And the camera firmware update from Ricoh - http://www.ricoh-imaging.co.jp/english/support/digital/gr2_s.html

Thank you, Gene, Canon told me I needed to buy a new camera! Windows 10 doesn't recognize drivers for older cameras at this point. There are no updates for the GR only the GRII.

Do you really need to use the camera tether? I never know how to do that. I imagine since your cameras are pretty old the tethering must be quite slow. If you just need to transfer images from camera to computer then it's easier just remove the memory card and use a card read to transfer all the image files.

Yes, tethering allows me to review the images as I take them and adjust exposures accordingly from the computer. It is very convenient and faster.

For the most part, your question was answered. If I were to go shopping for a thumb drive today, I'd want a Sandisk 64Gb, USB 3. Prices vary, and there are worthwhile alternatives. Just ensure you get USB 3, versus USB 2.
