Graham Thirkill Loc: Idylic North Yorkshire, England UK.

Apart from the people on here, I do not really come into contact with other photographers.
We are to down-size our house which is a big one and the bigger your house the more
baggage we collect.
Anyhow, to the Nitty Gritty, I would like to sell the whole job lot in one hit, rather than
have the stress of ten or twelve separate deals going on. I have had too mush stress
already with an apartment and a boat, (both now sold) I have had enough stress,
thank you very much

Check out the "sold" listings on eBay (under advanced search) to see what current prices were fetched for items in similar condition. Don't use auction listings or Buy it now as they are not always accurate. Selling all together, then take some additional money off the aggregate price.

If you can muster the patience to list items singly or small bundles that naturally go together, you will surely net much more than from one huge bundle.

You are never going to sell this as one "Lot". About the only way to sell it all at one time would be to take it to a camera store and see what they will give you for all of it. Be prepared for about 1/3rd of it's total value to be offered. If you have an auction house near you, that is another option.

I'd offer $1000 for all of it right now, but I don't want equipment from the UK. It probably wouldn't arrive here in the US in one piece and given the fact that you sound like you couldn't be bothered with it, the boxing up of this delicate equipment may not be the best. Just sayin'. You really don't sound interested in any part of selling it. Part of selling it is boxing it carefully so that it won't arrive with any damage.

Seriously, the best way to get rid of it is to list each piece on eBay and don't put a reserve on any of it. eBay has a way of bidding up the price nicely for equipment that is valuable and not bidding up the price for items that nobody wants. Most of your film equipment won't draw much interest, so don't expect much for it. But the more modern EF L series lenses and your 5DS will command quite a bit of interest. The 7D will too, but don't expect much more that $500 or the equivalent in UK money.

I don't know about British law but if you don't need the cash you might consider donating it to a charity and taking a tax write off for a reasonable value. Selling it as one lot will be a challenge unless you are willing to take a small fraction of what it is possibly worth.

Best,
Todd Ferguson

I agree - the only person who would be interested in such a complete lot would be a seasoned photographer - who will already have acquired most of the lenses, etc. With Ebay you will not have any trouble selling it. It might be worth finding someone who does Ebay sales and who will take 10%. You can do it yourself, but many buyers are very wary of buying from someone who does not have a long history on Ebay and a high seller rating with lots of sales. Any small items that don't sell you can donate to your local school.

Myself, I'd love to know what you would have to have for the 100mm L lens and the 50mm L lens.

I don't think you can sell those 35mm film cameras, I don't know anyone in this world still using them, donate them to any photography school or museum make good sense. Take about 30 to 60% off from your new purchase tag, then you can come up with your asking price. This depends on the condition, how complete as a set are they (box and accessories: manual, cable, CD's, battery, charger...), how many shots done, how old...For the 5DS, I think you should be able to get $1500 to $2000, for 7D from $300 to $600 etc.. Check price on local Craigslist, Ebay, advertisement...Good luck.

While I don't know about about these particular cameras, lots of people still use film cameras.

Check out the APUG forum (analog photography users group). They are strictly film oriented and have a large UK population. You have to be a subscriber to post for sale, but it is quite reasonable. Good Luck.

If you were here in the states, I would suggest contacting either B&H or Adorama about the lot.

You still might want to reach out to them. They regularly monitor the UHH topics and often respond.

I'm not sure if you have any similar kinds of large retailers or resellers in the UK, but it's worth a shot if you insist on moving everything as a single lot!

Also, you want to list if anything is a v1, v2, etc.

You list the Canon 100-400, and there are two different versions of that lens.

I'm not sure how many others have multiple versions.

Pick one item and search for it on ebay. Go down the left column and click on "Sold items." That well show you how much people have actually paid.

Selling it all at once would require a dealer, and for that, you will have to search locally. I think you would get substantially more, if that matters, by selling items individually. Maybe you could hire someone to put the items on ebay for you. With so much to sell, that would be quite an undertaking.
