I am looking to buy a new camera, a step up from a point and shoot, to take on trips. I was thinking about a full frame Mirrorless camera. I currently own 2 Canon DSLR's and I "love" my cameras. But they are cumbersome, when traveling. I want something that I can still attach a lens to, though. I have seen several brands, but want some input on which one you might think is best, and if it is worth spending money on a mirrorless camera and lens? As I have seen they can be pretty pricey. I am open to any suggestions Thanks for your help!

If I were you I'd wait and see what Canon comes out with next. You are already heavily invested in Canon (I'm assuming), so rumor has it that Canon will come out with one soon. Here's the rumor:

Are you happy with canon .if so stay with that, or read all the reports on merciless, there all on the net some where , there is a person on here who could send you reports on just about every camera around , you will get a lot of action from people , most about what they would get , not what you want , you want info on what they got and if they would buy again , me I would look at all the reports , and if I was a spender I would get the small Sony full frame around $2300 , I think that is with body only , but that And a good zoom and your good to go
They say the photos you get from that are almost at par with the Nikon D810 , you can't do any better than that.

It really fits nicely in the hands, especially if your hands are smallish. Couple that body with some small fast primes, and you're good to go. The kit Panasonic 12-32mm lens does a really nice job too...and it's flippin' tiny.

Since you are looking for something you can change lenses on and do not want it to be cumbersome I think a Nikon 1 J5 and 2-3 lenses would be your best bet.

I'm a lifetime (since 1968) Nikon user, but a year ago I made the decision to go with something that would be lighter than my D800E. I loved the high pixel count and all, but I didn't want to be schlepping all that poundage. A good friend recommended I look at a Sony A6000. I was skeptical, but my friend is a highly experienced photographer, so I borrowed his camera and gave it a try. I was immediately hooked.

It's not my Nikon, and the "manual" is the most useless bit of camera documentation this side of a Kodak Instamatic, but the camera takes great photos. In fact, it's so good that when I packed for a three-week trip to Florence, I didn't even consider packing my Nikon. I got great photos and know I made the right decision.

One caveat: the 16-55mm lens that was packaged with the camera was softer than I could tolerate, so I bought a rather pricey Zeiss 16-70mm lens (around $1100) as a replacement. I never took it off the camera.

Good luck making your decision.

Thanks so much for your help! Wow, Florence is so beautiful!! I was lucky to go there once. Memories are still in my brain and from the pictures I got with my little point and shoot. :) If yours was good enough to take there, it is definitely worth checking into. And I am like you, lenses are very important to me as well, so I am sure I will eventually add a few,to whatever I get. They are like shoes, I can never have too many!!
