Ordered a refurb Nikon D7200 on weekend.

Nikon message says camera put out to UPS on Monday with an order number and tracking number.

I go on-line to check transit and no info available Tuesday or Today.

Called Nikon and they say it will be delivered Thursday.

Called UPS and they say they don't have camera.

Both say to wait until end of day Thursday the 9th and then if not received " Call Again ."

Even UPS tracking does not have any "Transit" info.

Darn it

Had something like that once with another company. UPS hadn't actually picked it up yet.

I know it can sometimes take up to two days for tracking numbers to start showing movement, all depends if it was scanned or not . If it doesn't show up tomorrow, then I would be pissed for sure!!

Might be right. I just got an email saying the camera will be delivered Thursday between 1200 and 4pm.

Had the same issue with my D7200 - no updated tracking info. Showed up on time, though. (Why have tracking info if it is two days inaccurate.)

In this case I suspect the shipment never got on the UPS truck at pick-up. I had a similar experience with a package I DELIVERED to UPS for next day delivery to customer, but it didn't get to the destination...months later it was delivered to customer. After a lot of hell raising, UPS said it had been put in a storage closet and forgotten, but I don't think the "forgotten" was true as the package was 84" long.

However, I am very suspicious of UPS now and their "no signature required" policy unless requested by shipper; it would be so easy to make something "disappear" and they have a time & date of delivery. I've noticed recently that the drivers just put it on the porch and leave so unless you use the front door, you don't know anything has been delivered. We don't use the door often and most often go out through the garage to the cars.

From Nikon, mine was listed as 'Adult Signature Required'

Hope it's here today as noted.

This seems to be common with Nikon (and other companies) and UPS. If it's in the box with a label, the company can say UPS has it. Until UPS receives and scans the package, they have to record of it. Remember that UPS deals with thousands of packages every day, so it isn't entered into their system as soon as it gets to their property. I received my recalled D600 before Nikon said it had been sent.

From what I've seen, the tracking number is generated (and often the email with it goes out), at the time the mailing label is printed. It still have to be put on the box, and then picked up by the shipper -- which for some companies could be hours (or days) later.

I once dealt with a website which was essentially just taking the orders for another company. After the sale ended, they printed the shipping labels (tracking email went out), and then shipped the labels to the other company's warehouse, where the product was packed and labeled. UPS didn't have info on that one for over a week. (learned the details when I called customer service about it)

Sarge. Sometimes a shipper will use UPS Sure Post (???) which I think has a hand off to the USPostal system, usually an economic move by the shipper. Any time I have had shipping sent this way, it is always screwed up. UPS handles the pick up, delivers to a city or town post office, and then it goes out of their system. I have actually had things sit with the USPostal system for five days, at the post office, until the carrier loaded it on his truck for delivery. Could this be the problem with your package? Hope you new body gets to you today, as promised.

UPS Sure Post can result in delays. I live in Cleveland, Ohio have ordered items from Detroit and had them taken to a city in Pennsylvania to be transferred to USPS to be brought back to Cleveland to be delivered. This resulted in an additional 250 miles traveled and 3 days to the delivery time.

I was just about to post about the USPS delay, but someone already cleared that up for you. Hang in here Sarge the D7200 is well worth the wait. I love mine. Good luck!
