I want to travel from Naples to Circle B Bar Ranch for a day trip. Since I will have limited time, can someone suggest the best places for birding/photography. I do no want to waste time on non-productive areas. Thanks in advance.

Circle B Bar is one of my favorite places. My advice is to get there early, before 10 am and just walk the trails. Nature will unfold and reveal its beauty. We usually spend about 4 hours walking around. At the end we are usually pooped, but very happy with the variety and quantity of creatures seen. Lots of alligators too!

you could shoot gatorgirl51 a PM. although i have never met her in person, she seems very friendly, when i comment on her photos. she posts some killer shots from circler b bar. i would be willing to bet she knows some great spots. that is also the place where that enormous (14ft) gator was video taped crossing a trail a couple weeks ago.my next trip to fla. will include a trip to circle b. have fun and post some pics! gary

There are some trails that are better than others. I always have good luck on the trail that goes along the lake (Alligator Alley ?) Right now there are Great Blue Herons nesting along that trail and I saw barred owls, eagles, osprey, glossy ibis, etc. as well, last Saturday. You should go soon. They will close part of the park due to alligator breeding season which can start as early as March. And many of the migratory birds are heading back. I only saw a few black bellied whistling ducks this year and no white pelicans. Good Luck. That is one of my favorite places.

Thanks for the info. I will be aware of seasonal closing.

I agree. The entire site is excellent, but I do favor the "alligator alley". Took these in mid January there. Best of luck.
