...is worth two in the bush, but there were a lot more than two waiting for a free "hand" out!!!!

David and I went to the Elizabeth Morton Bird Sanctuary in Sag Harbor, NY and had a fantastic time being one with nature! The birds there are so very comfortable around the many people that visit and think nothing of coming down to your hand to get the seeds! ...if you put the seeds on your head, they'd go there too!!

Nothing better than having an sx50 in one hand and a bird in the other!!

Hope you enjoy these little tweeties!!

Very cute, but that is a bunch of size 10 food for a size 2 bird. How many were perched on the camera waiting their turn?

LOL... Robert, the size of the food didn't seem to matter, we even had peanuts in the shells and they came and took them away!! If I had some seed on my camera, they probably would have perched on the lens, but it was just in my hand!
Thanks for the visit and glad you liked!!

Having that experience really does warm your heart and that day was actually beautiful, especially with the sun shining... today the temps reached 60 and tomorrow we're expecting the big snow event of 10-12", so yes, all my feeders are full and the squirrels just got a big bowl of peanuts to hold them over!!
Thanks for the visit tramsey and glad you enjoyed!!

Aw...they're all so precious, Angela, but that little chickadee staring up at you in the first shot just stole my heart! What a thrill to have these wonderful little birds take food from your hand..or head. Just beautiful!

Bob, it's always an amazing experience going there, but the best time is in the winter when they really need the food. We went in the spring once and had chipmunks eating out of our hands!!
Glad you liked!!

Donna, you would love it there, but as I told Bob, the best time to go is in the winter, so you'd have to bundle up!!! We once had a downey woodpecker land on our hands!! The larger birds like cardinals, which are plenty and sparrows, won't land, so we toss the food on the ground, even though that's not allowed in fear of bringing rats to the area.
Glad you enjoyed.... it is always a thrill to be there!
