Good Morning;
I have been posting images on Facebook, and recently posted some that I have since decided I want to get enlarged. When I went on my computer, I couldn't find them anywhere. I thought when I posted images to Facebook only copies were transferred. Are my images leaving my computer and going on Facebook? IF that is the case, how can I bring them back (and in the same resolution?) Thanks..

I think you have a different problem. When you post to facebook you only upload a copy of the image, the original stays on your computer. I suggest that you do a search on your computer for the files you are looking for. Perhaps you saved them somewhere else.
I have been posting to facebook for close to 10 years, never lost an image yet.

You are NOT posting your original image, you are ALWAYS posting a COPY of that image on FBook. Depending on the operating system used by your computer, you can use a file organizer tool - in my case, since I use a Mac computer, I use Finder - it will be different if you are using a PC. But your file DOES exist if you did not erase it.

Agreed- only a copy goes to FB or Flickr- not your original. Wonder if you have toggled a setting accidentally.

I addition to the comment above...

FB also creates a highly compressed image stripped of meta data.

Think I found the problem and it's a FREAK...
Decided to do a test, so dragged an image over to my WD Passport 1T drive. Opened it up, and it was not there... SO. I did it again.. And it was not there. It was then that I noticed that there is a "gas" gauge on the front of the WD thumbnail image on my computer, and it is reading RED! Been trying to find out what that means on the Internet, and SO far I found one blog stating that it is "not reading the WI-FI" If this is the case, what can I do to repair it, and can I get my (lost?) images back? The reason I got the WD drive in the first place is that my Mac only has 120GB of memory, and I use to have to delete files all the time as it filled up quickly. I do NOT have any other back up facilities (at the MOMENT!) such as I-Cloud, or ones that charges yearly fees. (AND I have been downloading images to the WD drive then DELETING them from my computer..)
Anyone got ANY ideas on what I can do? And (especially if they are lost,) how do I get the images back from Facebook? Thank..
Please reply with suggestions and not with criticisms. I am still learning how to use computers, having started at an advance age.

Find your photo on facebook and Left click on it - save it on your computer - it will be a very small resolution image compared to the original but that is what it is.

Check your computer trash or bin. See if you moved your files to there rather than deleted them.

As for your external drive - You can buy an External Drive box for about £20. it comes with power and usb cables. Swop your drive in to it and see if it works. There may be a problem with the old circuit board, cable power, etc. There are two different HD connectors !!!!Check that you get the right box!!!

A Mac or PC repair person may be able to recover your files (at a cost) if it still does not work.

Buy a new HD as a component and put it in the box as an external hard drive. It is as easy as clipping a connector together!Read instructions that come with it.
again check it has the right connector type.

In future check and double check before delete. (couldn't resist!!!)

Have fun

You can't bring them back in the original resolution because FACEBOOK resizes them for you. It does, however, recognise certain parameters. To put your image on facebook in the best resolution it will recognise resize the image yourself to 2048 pixels on the longest side of the image - whether that be horizontal or vertical.

Thanks John Is there a way I can get the images back myself from them, or do I need to have them do it? (I probably have 90 or so images posted, but only need 12 or so to come back..)
