How Big of a Photo Can I Print from My Phone or Camera?

This is the first article I saw that in some ways makes the medium format camera and DSLR obsolete . I still have to see it for myself though . I can't imagine an image taken w/ my iPhone looking as good blown-up to an 11X14 as would an image blown up to that size taken on my DSLR . The article states it's all about megapixels . I thought it was all about the size of those individual megapixels and the size of the sensor they are on . And then there are the optics !

You are correct. MPXLs are a contributing factor, but they are also as much for marketing as for photo quality. I once won an online contest with a photo taken with a Canon G12. When I tried to print it, I got to 8x10 and by 11x14 it was not good any longer. With my Nikons aps-c sensors I have printed 20x30 from the 12mpxl D90. I remember seeing a 4x6 FOOT photo at a Nikon show booth. It came from a 6mpxl P&S. (Of course, they used some fancy software to get there, but still...)
