My mistake

We just moved, printers have been down for the last two plus months. Was worried about things drying out.
Got one printer set up and finally found all the ink (9600) and tried to print a test page (new network set up, curses). So did a test from the printer. What a mess. Moved the head out and went to get some rags and cleaner. Got back and ink is flowing down the front of the printer. ????? Fortunately my Wife had put a runner under the printer to protect the off white carpet. Thank you Dear.

Now that the story is out of the way, "IF" you don't unplug the vent holes in refillable cartridges, they will flow till you do. It was a mess to clean the printer and the underside of the head, but the test print is perfect. Also, if you put a folded paper towel under the head before you do this it will draw even more ink through. I put a folded paper towel under to clean the mess off of the head and the flow increased until l unplugged the cart vents. Then the flow stopped. Does not use any where near as much ink as a line purge, and keeps the head immersed in the ink maybe dissolving or dislodging dried ink, and for some reason it also gets the pesky bubbles out of the lines.

So, if the head purge that I posted previously won't solve your problem this might be an alternate solution. I've got three more of these monster to set up so I'll update.
I don't know why this happened, logic says if you have the vent holes plugged it should have created a vacuum in the system. So much for logic.
Don't know if this will work for other brands of printers as Epson is not a heat dispersal head, or if it will work with standard carts. Be interesting to hear if someone else has run into this situation and if they have come to the same conclusion.
