I wanted to present a country barn near my home in Okla for critique.

First you need to level the photo. Everything is leaning to the left. Next you need to work on your composure. This photo has your barn nearly dead center, not the best placement. I'm including an article for you to read on composition. Keep shooting, keep posting.

Thank you for your feedback Bob. I can see your point.
NG.... better in B&W, too centered, "TOO GENERAL" a subject. No life...
Nice shot, except that the verticals aren't vertical. This can be corrected in a matter of seconds in PS, PSE or probably any other editing program. Just rotate it clockwise a couple degrees.
I used a point and shoot. How would I edit to BW? Could you expand on your comment of No life....I am still a real novice.
I don't have PS not sure what steps to take when I get it to rotate pic a few degrees.
To make a B&W pix when using a point/shoot camera.... download your camera images onto a photo program, then turn your color image into either a B&W or sepia tone image.. Your barn pix, was TOO bland.. either have a cow or some trees/plants nr. the barn... OR, wait for some clouds to give u a more interesting pix..

We can make short work of that for you.

So I see, now how would I turn it to black and white?
With a simple digital camera, with no options to convert your color image into a B&W photo.. your only option is to do it via a photographic editor..

The simplest way is to desaturate the photo's colors, depending on your photo editing software.

I disagree. If the barn is placed off center a bit it will be a beautiful picture. The color could be a bit more saturated if you would like but to say that it is too general is harsh it is a look into americas past , part of our heart and soul... If that old barn could only talk ... oh but wait it is talking to us.. through this photo and I can almost hear the kids throwing hay late as the sun is setting, and the men talking about this years crops and weather. No it has lots of life... keep it up
