The barn shot, though interesting, suggests slow shutter, 300mm and wide open

I like both shots, the first one especially. It reminds me how cold it can get there. That barn looks familiar. I friend of mine raised Arabian horses and had a barn similar to that. Is it about twenty miles south west of Grand Forks?

Windmill is wonderful, but in my opinion this is one of those times that composition could have been better, cropping would have helped using the rule of thirds rather than having the horizon and windmill dead center.

I think in this case the rule of thirds was meant to be bent maybe broken. It is also tilted to the left. But I like it as it is.

I really like the first one, just as it is. Life on the northern plains can be tough, both picture show that.
