I doubt that any of our 70,000 members would be puzzled by the term "Cigarette Lighter Fluid." I wanted some fluid for my hand warmers, but I was having trouble finding it. As I was parking by the supermarket, I saw a "Smoke Shop" sign on the building next door. I went in and said I wanted cigarette lighter fluid. He looked puzzled and pointed to a shelf with cigarette papers. I told him it was for a lighter. Then he made an up/down motion with his thumb. I said I need the fluid for a lighter. He said, "I don't know what that is." He wasn't a native English speaker, but still, working n a "Smoke Shop," you'd think he would know something about lighters and fluids. If I had just asked him for "lighter fluid," he probably would have said, "Lighter than what?"
I went across the street and got two cans of Ronson fluid from the hardware store.

That's probably like trying to buy a "typewriter ribbon." Try that with the young 'uns at Staples!
I had a similar problem at Peet's coffee. #6 Melita filters are missing, just #4 and #2. I had the same solution, a hardware store across the street. So much easier and quicker than Amazon.

I often make it a point to go back and actually show the person/clerk who doesn't know or understand what it is I was wanting to purchase etc. Yeah, they often either just don't know or they give you a strange look like there never was such thing.
You should of showed him a video of Jimi Hendrix burning his guitar with Ronsonol!

Funny about Jimi.
I looked around his little shop, and there was no fluid nor any "old fashioned" lighters.

After I read this to my wife {who is cold six months of the year}, she said "I never got past 'hand warmers'; what are they and where do I get them?"

I used way too much of this stuff way back in the 1960s when I smoked a pipe. ~FiddleMaker

And I just noticed that you recently passed and exceeded the 75,000 mark for number of posts.
Yes, I have one, too, from about 1957. It's better than the new Zippos. The Zippos do not have a flat bottom, so you can't stand them up easily to let the fluid disperse before lighting. Also, the Jone has a wick that makes lighting much easier. I've thought about drilling a hole in the Zippo for a wick.
