What's your favorite Red River paper?

and others...

I'd love to hear what your favorites are.

Pearl Metallic. 11x17 and 4x6. Just started using it a bit not too long ago so I haven't developed a preference yet for a particular photo type.
Mostly I use Epson Ultra Premium Glossy but the metallic has a look that I like.

Pearl Metallic is one that I want to try. What type of photos do you print on it? Landscapes, portraits?

I've done some of both with the Pearl Metallic but haven't had time lately to experiment too much. A couple of months ago I ordered two 8.5x11 sample packs from Red River, since I had never used their paper before. Wasn't very expensive. One of them had the Pearl Metallic in it. The sample packs come with quite a number of papers. Two sheets each, as well as the profiles to use. You might want to check them out. Actually, I ordered one of each sample pack and they sent me two by mistake. When I told them about it they told me to keep the extra samples. Gave them to a friend of mine to try.

Yes, the metallic for me too! I use others but they are just another paper.
For certain prints, the metallic is great. Like lots of specular highlight. Very special light or when there's a lot of chrome like for an old car or any shiny stuff, etc.
For everything else, just pick one!! LoL

I print with an Epson 3880 and like the Aurora Art Natural. Semi-smooth 100% cotton rag.

For a few landscapes I use their Pearl Metalic. For gloss, luster, and matte prints I much prefer papers by either Moab or Hahnemuhle.

I bought the Pecos river gloss. It is a gloss on one side, matte on the other, pre-folded for greeting cards. (I made up some blank inside, 'all-purpose' cards one year for grab bag gifts.) I had a little trouble with the feed into the printer, probably due to the 60lb weight of the paper, however, once I upgraded my printer with a new one, the end results were quite good.

Lots of chrome and stuff! Hmmm..., that makes sense. I'll have to dig up some of my car show shots and give that a try. Thanks for the tip!

Greenguy33, what firtree just stated is something you want to keep in mind. Some papers are so stiff that they won't work unless your printer is capable of rear feed. Internal feed requires the paper to make a 180 degree bend around a roller. Stiff paper can't do that. I believe Red River will state that in their paper specs. It was stated in one of the sample packs I got because it included some very heavy paper.

Thanks, I have a Canon Pro-100.
My favorite paper has been San Gabriel Semi-gloss, which is a very thick paper.

I mostly use their 68 lb. Ultra Pro Gloss 2.0; I like it and have no complaints with it. I've tried a few prints with their Polar Pearl Metallic 66 lb. and haven't liked it. It seems to be too cool/cold(?) for my taste, but might work well for something metal like unpainted or a silver colored airplane.

Just my non-professional opinion on that one paper; and I mostly use RR papers.
