Any UHH'ers gone from the Sony A6000 to A6500? How do you like it? Worthwhile upgrade? Most of the comparisons I've found are from A6300 to A6500.

I'm sticking with the A6000, but here are some comparisons. You can also use the 6300/6500 and 6000/6300 comparisons to get info, too.

I went from the a6000 to the a6300 which has some of the improvements in the a6500 but not all. I felt it was definitely a worthwhile upgrade. The a6300 has produced some outstanding shots. I sold my a6000 and had a 10% reward from Adorama from the purchase of a lens so it was not that big of a financial layout. On the other hand the a6500 is an even bigger price jump than the a6300.

I paid $500+ for my A6000, so spending $1,400 to "upgrade" does not appeal to me. I don't see anything in the B&H comparison to tempt me.

Sony has been moving forward at a fast pace. It sometimes hard to not ask are these incremental changes a
need to sell more cameras? Or to keep the focus on Sony innovation. Of course cameras have always been priced
about what they do not include. And Nikon didn't put out 3 cameras a year.
My Sony a7s is a classic example. This camera performs so well I was amazed at its beautiful image quality
and its use by videographers made it a standard for 2nd camera main for docs.
The a7s II especially with the 5 axis image stabilizer is very tempting. I will stick with my a6300 and a7s
and RX1OOIV.
I also have noticed that trade and used sale of recent cameras seems to me to be losing value compared to the past.
To many models like what Sony is doing maybe the cause.
These camera including the a6300 have become serious video cameras. I love the 6300 and the a7s.
Canon started this revolution when the DSLR mark II was used to make professional video.
So my advice to myself is stay with what you own and be happy at the privilege of having such
creative tools.

Right. That's what happened with the RX100 series. Shortly after you spend the money for one, a new model comes out with "better" features and a considerably higher price. That's why I went back to my DSLRs and a compact Sony A6000.

Thanks guys. I was hoping to hear from somebody that went directly from the A6000 to the A6500. I have compared all of the specs for the A6000, A6300 and A6500. I think the significance of the improvements from A6000 to A6500 have been lost by breaking them into two increments with the A6300.
I have been very happy with the A6000 and haven't come close to fulfilling its full potential. However, I have a significant birthday coming up and I am planning on treating myself to some sort of upgrade. The other possibility is a A7ii, but I am reluctant to go FF and having to start over with FF lenses and all of that weight and expense. According to DXO, the A6500 almost closes the gap between the A6000 and the A7's.

That's the way I saw it. I'm sticking with my a6000. It's still a great camera.

5 axis image stabilization did it for me. Have also kept my a6000.

The a6000 remains among the best bargains in photography. The a6500 while a better camera is not at its price point. The a6300 is what the a6500 is worth and will come close to being. The a6500 is what the a6300 should have been. Sony should offer discounts on a a6300 traded in for an a6500 and discontinue it. Then lower the a6500 price. It would be a huge win for Sony.

I agree with you. I have a 6000 with 4 lens and love the camera.............was thinking about selling all of my Canon gear (5d mark 2, plus 6 or 7 lens and going to Sony.) Then I started to look at the prices of Sony lens, said forget it.
I sold my Canon 5d 2 and purchased a 5d 3 and just stayed with my sony 6000. I just hated to sell my canon system.
If I'm doing a lot of walking ie travel, then I will use the 6000. If I will be working out to the car then I will use my 6000.
If I sold all of my Canon lens i could never afford to replace them.
I did purchased an adapter so I could use my canon lens on the 6000 and have never used it. It's looks like putting a train in front of a gocart.

You made a good decision Jerry. I will admit I miss the feel of the Nikon DSLR. And at times I envy the Canon with a good lens.
I will say that Sony had made good cameras more affordable. I dont think any of their cameras including the a6000 series
and my newer RX10 III auto focus as fast. They hunt in some situations. My Nikons and I think the Canon's are superior.
I like to focus myself but in a lot of situations like being in Disneyworld with grandchildren the 6300 did the job.
You always bring common sense to these discussions.
