Where's My G Drive?

I have SyncBack set to backup to external drives named G. My G drive has disappeared, and is no longer available. The external is now H. I cannot change it to G because the computer thinks G is already taken, although it doesn't show up anywhere. Ain't Windows great! Any ideas. Yes, I have Macs, too, so you don't have to suggest that.

If you go into disk management and change the drive letter of the drive that is currently listed as G to something else, G will then be available for you to assign to the current H drive.

That was the problem. G was not listed as being used, and the letter was not available to use. After going back and forth to Disk Management several times, a G drive showed up, so I renamed it to Z. That made G available. That Z drive doesn't show up in This PC, though.

Your removable drives may be configured to be hidden.

I hope not. I have enough trouble finding things.

Lots of time, work, and money involved in a project like that. Those days are over for me.

Maybe you can find your G drive next to the G spot...

So Disk 2 is the problem, right? Try reformatting it.

It's a locating problem, rather than a condition problem. It was solved by disabling the network adapter and then restarting the computer.

Since it seems you have so many problems with your Windows machines why don't you get rid of them and just stick with your Macs? Don't tell me about having programs that only run in Windows or whatever. If it doesn't work on a Mac you don't need it. I'm sure that's what Apple would tell you, anyway. Just curious.

Have you ever built a Mac computer or doing so?

I've been using Windows computers since about 1979, and I have programs that run only on them. I use Virtual Box occasionally on my Mac, but it's not quite the same. I don't want to give up WordPerfect.

Building this Mac looks just like building a Windows machine, with the exception of the Apple OS.

Drive letters can change with winblows depending on what is plugged in or turned on at the time the computer is booted.
I use a program named ViceVersa to sync my backups - - and I have to make sure the external back-up drive has the letter expected.
Fortunately with ViceVersa it is easy to change depending on what the computer decided to call it today.
