While stopped at a traffic light along Coney Island Avenue in Brooklyn, NY, I noticed a group of dapper gentlemen sitting on a bench across the road. I quickly lowered the window and grabbed my camera on the seat next to me and got off one shot just before the light changed. I sold it to a greeting card company that markets it as a sympathy card. I love the way these guys are dressed! Dapper. Serendipity rules!

This is at least the third time (out of four posts) that you post in the wrong area.

Please pay attention where you post. Since you are new I was hoping that seeing the admin move your posts would tell you something is wrong, in vain.

I am surprised that the card company accepted the photo without signed releases from the 5 gents.

David- I thought the same thing about getting a model release, but they did use it.

Well if any of the 5 ever see it, you and the card maker, could be responsible for costs including fines and penalties.

While I agree it is a fine and interesting photo. I personally would never sell it without getting releases. Now perhaps the agreement you signed with the card company puts the burden on you to have a release(s).

Well good luck.

rjwallace- "ignore the troll" lmao That's hilarious. I will indeed. All negative, no constructive thoughts, like where he thinks I should post them. Sigh. Can't please everyone.

David-Normally I do everything according to the books to get a release. I have a bulging file full of them. Although I do understand that if you are out in public anyone can take your picture. Selling it may be another matter, of course. I've even gotten property releases for some pics. Sometimes, I'll offer to give the person copies and that satisfies them. After all, they weren't caught in an uncompromising and embarrassing position.

The rationale behind posting these pics that I've sold is not to show off but rather that you don't have to take brilliant photos to make sales. If you're offering them to the right market, (that's the key) even the most ordinary pictures can sell. That said, I do take every opportunity to make sure they're tack sharp, (mostly taken with a tripod and almost always in manual mode). After all, I've been taking pictures since I was 14, (I'm 67 as of Dec 1) when my dad gave me a Yashica Twin Reflex camera, complete with tripod, flash, (with bulbs!) and a cable release. Everything was manual. You either did it correctly or you got garbage. And of course it was film. No computers. No Lightroom or Photoshop to rescue errors. Nuff said.
