A pair of 2-inch immature preying mantids. They stared at each other for a while, then tried to beat-up each other. I put them in different bushes to cool off!
Nice expressive poses and clean shots. These always look so passive but I wouldn't want to be a creature captured by one, they take no prisoners
Very good. I can't place the species. It has a notably broad pronotum and a black mark on the inside of the front femur.
Maybe the garden mantis (Orthodera ministralis). In any case it was fun looking for them, as you have many interesting mantids down there.
