Great shot and what a touching narrative of past history, Phiden. Beside, and before photography our family has always been train enthusiasts, especially steam, and would have also liked to witness the occurrence and talked with this gentleman, Thanks, and hope that you gave him a very special deal on the image!

I've seen that bridge many times but this is the first time I've heard about the steam engine. And you being able to give substance to that old man's memory enhances the power of photography. What we see often depends on what we're looking for.

I know the feeling. My wife's Grandfather was a carpenter on the train that frequented south Louisiana. I was honored to receive his hand-made tool box with antiquated tools. My Eagle Scout son in Pennsylvania is also a hobby carpenter that will be the recipient of that tool box when he travels with his family this year. I know he will cherish this relic that connects family ancestry!

October Steam Train Excursions: Hoboken NJ to Port Jervis NY: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/bit.listserv.railroad/ZOMOlvXGAw4
"The route from Hoboken will take the train across the Meadowlands past Giants Stadium then through the Bergen County towns to the west of NJ Route 17 to Mahwah. The line then enters New York State at Suffern,
paralleling both NY Route 17 and the Thruway to Harriman.

One of the most spectacular sites for train watching is the 3,000 foot long Moodna Viaduct at Salisbury Mills NY, off NY Route 94. The bridge traverses serene pastures with sections being nearly 200 feet high.

Other good spots for watching, videoing and photographing are at Campbell Hall, Otisville and Port Jervis itself.

Sometimes we hit upon a special shot that we're proud of, not because we took it, but because it's just a good shot and has a moving story behind. In this case they, photo and story, were brought together by PHIDEN.
