Definitely an American Goldfinch in winter plumage.

Most definitely an American Goldfinch.
I'm looking at about 50 of them on our finch feeders as I type this.

Consider yourselves lucky.
American Goldfinch, it appears to be a female or juvenile in winter colors. An adult male would have a more evenly yellow head. We have a flock of about 40 that frequent our feeders all year long.

It's a goldfinch in its winter coat.

There's a free app for Android from Audobon, works on cell phone and tablets. Yes, they are American Goldfinches, in summer plumage the upper parts are brilliant yellow. Winter birds in CT can almost look olive brown. We are enjoying some Painted Buntings at our Florida feeders right now. They are about the same size as a Goldfinch.
Thank you again. (And for the compliment ) I am from Orlando, but I never got the Painted Bunting . Saw it once in Ft Lauder . But, I am not a birding person.
