Well I made the decision this past Tuesday (1/24) and received my Canon EOS-1D X Mark II DSLR Camera on Thursday. Wow - what a nice camera, very easy to use - almost exactly like my 7D MII to use with the exceptions of several additional details. It was really a difficult decision to make, but I though what the heck - you only live once and why not just enjoy the top of the line for whatever time you have left in this world. Will give it a good try out tonight at the hockey game where I usually use my 7D MII. There is still a lot of different things to learn how to use on this camera, but with the fact that it is familiar to my 7D, I don't expect much in the way of problems. It will be interesting to try the 14FPS, but don't think it will be the main way I will shoot because of the volume of pictures that you can take in such a short button push.

Just lookin forward to finding out all of the new things I can do with it.

First of all....good for you. Why the heck not. Second, I'll be following your experiences closely because I too have the 7DII and have been going back and forth in my mind which FF to get. The 1Dx II or the 5DS R. It is a quandry. You didn't by any chance purchase it on KEH? They had one listed and now suddenly it is gone.

Congrats. I've seen pro photographers owning the 1DX, but not the 1DX Mark 2. Yes, those 14fps are most impressive. Enjoy it.

Jim, good for you, I'm jealous! Most will never even hold a 1D model, let alone own a new one!! Yes, it's as serious as it gets! LoL
You're right, when push comes to shove, most will get the family sedan and just tell themselves it's almost a Porsche!
I'll just say to experiment with the Slow speed continuous vs the High speed.
With the new processor, that thing must be a real handful!!!
WEAR IT OUT!!!

congrats on your new camera and you bought it for the right reason. Life is short, if u can afford it and u want it, BUY IT.
when I was looking for a new camera I kept wasting time, thinking about it, should I ,shouldnt I , will I need the money for something else. Wife said BUY it. You can't spend it when your dead. So I did. Then I started buying lenses and Tablets and now she says STOP. too late honey!!!!

good for you, you only get one go round. all that counts is that it has enough " gotta haves "to move you to buy it.

Wow!! That's awesome, Jim! I'm genuinely happy for you! I've been dreaming of an FF camera to compliment my 7D MkII; can't afford one, but it's a fun thought. I can really appreciate the decision making process you went through before making your purchase. You made the right decision!!
