Cat Nearly Causes Major Flood

It is early on a Sunday morning, May 13th to be exact. I am sitting on the patio, camera in hand watching for my little friend to show up at the hummingbird feeder. A jet flies over on approach to O'Hare, I look up to check the plane out and see the moon, still high in the sky. The sun is raising, but the sky overhead is still a rich blue. I take a couple of shots and settle back down to focus on the feeder. Something is moving in the periphery of my left eye. Slowly, still focused on the feeder, I turn my head to the left, camera to face - to be greeted by THAT CAT. Having been raised in the mountains east of Pittsburgh, I am very familiar with Bobcats. My heart is in my throat (not a good thing for a heart patient). Then, just before the big flood (source to be imagined) I noticed the collar and bell. Believe me, the bell doesn't work.

To add insult to near injury (bladder and heart) this cat wants me to allow him into our house. He doesn't live here, don't know where he does live, but it is NOT here, and never will be after this early morning prank. I have noting against cats but this one is causing me to learn quickly.

I read the story three times and I'm still not exactly sure what it's supposed to be about.

Cute kitty though.

Gator, the kitty was a BIG Tom, nearly the size and coloring of a bobcat. He nearly filled the frame, between his size and closeness. There wasn't a sound, he was just suddenly there. Don't know if you have bobcats down your way, but they can be very mean, without warning. They are a cousin of the Lynx and have a more pointed ear than this Tom, but not an animal that you want in your camera lens at 6:30 in the morning. I had already had about three cups of coffee. Need I say more?

Ahhhhh, the "major flood" you were referring to.
Now it's clear. :)

I agree. Used to have a bunch of cats when I was young. Have photos to prove it too but not on my computer. They are old photos. One of these days I will take the time to scan in many of my old photos to show off.

We have bobcats and a cougar. Never heard of a bobat attacking anyone unless it was cornered. The little gray cat has a sweet face. Even if he was a 30 pounder, I wouldnt confuse him with a bobcat....You need to get ou of the city more.....lovely shots of the moon and cat.

Just a local Tabby - - I doubt a feral bobcat would approach you, and would unlikely pose a threat unless cornered.
So - nothing to fear except fear itself.
Regarding the outcome of 'the flood' - I guess that 'depends'
 sorry - couldn't resist
