A local TV station was reporting air temperature of 25F and wind chill of 13F
{ducks were swimming into a 15 MPH headwind}

I probably feel colder then they do just by looking at this.

As I watched the birds, waiting for the picture I wanted {at least four birds and a glimpse of the snow-dusted shore}, I noticed that they were swimming in pairs - female followed by male. When I mentioned that last night to my wife, she did some online research and discovered that ducks generally pair off for life {although she did read about something that sounded like gang rape to her}. Apparently right now, they're just marking time, waiting for mating season {and warmer weather} to come.
Poor things look sooo cold! Good shot, rehess!

The same area, seen from a greater distance. Now the open water is gone, replaced by ice and snow-covered ice. The ducks seem to have flown off to someplace, perhaps to where there is still some open water.
