Play-Doh Head

I picked up some Play-Doh the other day to use for some interesting photography. Here is the resulting image.

Yes, the sculpting is pathetic and crude, and the editing hardly much better. However, it still succeeds in capturing the absurd, bizarre-fantasy-like quality I was aiming for.

Very attention-grabbing, but I'd say the measles aren't doing it any favours.

Thank you for commenting, R.G.! I think you are correct; I should have skipped the spots, or at least done proper texture graphing for them.

Thank you. Here is an updated version, with further editing on the head:

Defiantly? I suppose one could look at it that way. But really, I'm just following my vision, producing the type of images that I enjoy viewing. Sometimes it's more reality-based, sometimes fantasy-based.

Love the original!!! The colors and lighting! The image is absurdist and funny, and, depending on one's perspective, may tell any kind of story. The dots, for me, are part of the "painting technique," while the redone image makes them wart-like, and changes "the story" from funny to sympathetic. I guess I prefer funny.

You are absolutely right, the retouch job seems to have altered the overall character of the subject. Amazing how sometimes just a small amount of editing can have such an impact on the perceived mood of an image. The original version certainly would serve better as a children's book illustration than the less comical, more frightening second version.
