I have an Lumix fz18 and just purchased the Sony HX9V. I like using filters and you can't use filters on the Sony. The Sony has good reviews but changing the settings is too time consuming.

I've read a lot on the P7100 and watched videos on YouTube. It has a lot of the features I like and I can use filters. I am willing to take the time to learn the camera and will be purchasing a book to guide me along. I have been reading at this site and am confused often. I just want to take pics that are the best the camera I have will give me and I do want something capable of nice pics in low light. I think a 7 zoom is enough for me and the size of the P7100 will fit in a purse. I may keep the Sony too. I tried using PS and had problems with the computer, I like using Picasa and Sumo.
A comment on one review said they thought the flip out screen would be broke in a year.
Thanks for reading this...

I have a P7000 I use way more than all my more expensive cameras. It goes with me everywhere. Right now it is within reach.

Folding screens can be very handy.

I have the P7000 and have moved it up to my main Backup Cam. It is a fantastic Camera and not expensive!

It is indeed fine camera and it can take good quality P&S pictures as well
as some artistic (tryout)shots.
All pictures are post processed just crop, straighten and some brightness
in ViewNX2
Love this small camera

Thanks, I like your pictures. They are the kind of pics I like to take when traveling. What is ViewNX2? Did you have a difficult time learning the camera, some web sites said it is not easy?

Thanks again,

Hi Sparkleplenty,

I don't know what is your photography knowledge
but P7100 is easy to use as P&S(Point & shoot) it really work good,if you need some artistic photo it is little challenging, but nothing really too complicated. It come with excellent tutorial (on PC interactive)and VieNX2 both very smart programs.

ViewNX2 is software made by Nikon and it is use for some adjustment of your pictures,it is much easier and less advanced than Photoshop,it come with the camera

I also have the P7100. It goes with me when the D300s is just to big to take. An awesome little camera. Does just about as good as the 300. Not hard to get use to if you do manual now. And as a P&S it does a good job too. Some time I get lazy with it and just go auto and the pictures are all good.

Apart from a polarising filter, I just wonder why you would use image degrading filters anyway. Most, if not all, other filters can be applied in PP.

I do use the polarizing filter, I have the UV which I found out wasn't necessary, star filter and a ND-9 filter. I really didn't know that filters degrade your photo's, the star filter is fun. What is PP? Thanks for your reply, a lot I read on this forum is Greek to me but I am determined to improve.
Bye...
