I dug out an old Minox 35PL from the closet thinking I would play around with it. It is in need of a battery and uses a V27 PX Mercury 5.6 volt. I've searched the net and found that it's not produced any longer.
Does anyone know if there is a substitute solution?
What configuration was the original battery in? Was it tubular
or otherwise? A picture of the original battery would help a lot
along with the dimensions.... it's quite possible that this can be solved.
Yeah, they are available on the web. It's exactly what I thought
it was..... a stack of 1.2 volt cells making 6volts total.
Easily made if the battery turned out impossible to find.
There is only one battery. It's about 1/2 inch high and 3/8 in circumference. There is a warning in the manual that states that anything less than 5.6V could result in failed results.
Yes, that is what it looks like only black. Perhaps I can find a US distributor before ordering from the UK.
Thank you for the link. Now I know what to look for.
Google the battery as there are folks selling them here
sinatraman
Loc: Vero Beach Florida, Earth, alpha quaudrant
mercury batteries are illegal in the US to protect the water table. that means you can't even import them from the UK. if you google mercury battery substitutes their should be an equivalent. I know wein inc makes substitutes for my Nikon F, maybe they do yours. other option shoot with sunny 16 rule, don't use meter, or use a hand held light meter.
Thanks everyone. Looks like we found it.

I had the same situation with my Minox C. When I ordered batteries and fim from Minox years ago, they sent me that adaptor with the silver oxide batteries.
They are listed on Ebay as U27 PX
They banned silver batteries in the U.S., so you'll only find them overseas - probably as NOS
