Angela, the side view of the church looks almost exactly like our Court house built in 1849! Great history and write up!

Thanks Bill, glad you enjoyed!! I've always known it was there and actually worked a craft show in the church, but never took the time to explore it!

Is this the cemetery you were telling me about, Angela? The entire place looks like a photographer's paradise, and I'm so jealous! Beautiful, beautiful shots of all.. and always excellent processing!

Glad you liked these, Donna and you know I appreciate your kind words!!!! I've always known about this church, but not it's history and I would never go by myself, so when my friend had the idea, I was thrilled. Even though I hate walking through cemeteries, being that this one is historic, I didn't feel that bad!

Took these on a photo outing with a dear friend last Sunday. Right in my own backyard and I had no idea of the history of this church.

Caroline Church and Cemetery is a historic church and cemetery and also a national historic district at the junction of Dyke and Bates Roads in Setauket, Suffolk County, New York. The church was built in 1729 and is a three-by-four-bay, heavy timber-framed, 42 by 30 foot building sheathed in wood shingles and covered by a gable roof. It features a 42-foot tower surmounted by a 25-foot spire. The complex also includes the parish house, built in 1905, and a barn built in 1893. The cemetery was established in 1734.[2]

It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.

Hope you enjoy and please try the downloads for more details!

Ellie, thank you for your kind comments... but I feel like I live in a bubble at times and knew nothing of this history, it took a good friend to enlighten me and she suggested we go there!!
Glad you enjoyed, even though I do feel disrespectful taking pictures in a cemetery, but at least I let others know of the history!
Have a great day!!

Oh, I feel so differently! I love to visit cemeteries. I enjoy reading the headstones and reading about the deceased's histories. (It also shows a lot about the times they lived in.). I feel it somehow gives meaning to their lives and those who loved them....that their lives had meaning and that meaning is shared with others who visit their graves. But I am always very respectful of the graves and headstones. Maybe I am just weird ...🙃

I thank you, my friend and glad you enjoyed!! It was interesting learning the history of this church and cemetery... like I said, sometimes I feel like I live in a bubble and every now and then it bursts and I learn something new!!

Maybe a little weird, Ellie LOL.... I'd much rather be walking through a park, but this was very interesting and very, very old and if this were a newer cemetery, I probably wouldn't post pictures (maybe I'm weird, it just doesn't feel right to me) but this is a piece of history, so I had to share!!
