Snow has moved in to refresh the landscape in Yellowstone. Here are a few I shot in the park recently. We rarely see wolves in Yellowstone in winter, so the wolf pictures are from the Grizzly Bear and Wolf Discovery Center in West Yellowstone. It can be a good place to photograph both species, especially when it is snowing - the harder the better. All of the river scenes are focus stacked with Helicon Focus. Grand geyser is shot with a 16-35mm Canon lens handheld. I find that when using wide angles with fast shutter speeds that exceed 1/125 second, there is really no need to use a tripod. Otherwise, I nearly always use a tripod to achieve sharp images, to carefully compose the image, and for other reasons. For example, I often use my Canon 600EX-RT Speedlite to trip my camera from a remote spot away from the tripod mounted camera. This is a tip because I find most using that flash along with the ST-E3-RT don't know the flash can do that! Look for the release (REL) selection in the flash menu. The REL is one of the most useful features on that flash!

Very well done, as usual, Mr. Gerlach. Wish I was there instead of the grey & gloomy Midwest right now!
