Hi,
I'm Silke, I live in Bavaria, Germany.
Someone suggested your forum to me, when I asked for a friendly, helpful photography forum (because I prefer forums to G+ or FB groups)
I own a Canon 550D, with the Canon lens it came with, and a Tamron Tele Lens. (Not sure which one right now.)
It was kit purchased by my boyfriend, who has sadly passed away.
I lived in the UK for 25 years, but have moved back to Germany (my birthplace)
Mainly I am wanting to learn about the technical aspects, which I'm blithely ignorant about. :)
F-Stop, smefstop... I know very little about setting up a shot -- even though my boyfriend was a professional camera man. :) I point and shoot, mainly.
I do play with apertures, but honestly...it's all trial and error.
There are zero photographers around here, we're extremely remote.
However, the landscape is beautiful, and I have several photogenic creatures running around the place. (Horses, Cats, Dogs...)
So that's me. :)

Welcome or should we say willkommen. There are many technical experts in this forum that can talk tech to you until you want to hang yourself. That is a beautiful area not sure north or south where you live. My family is Swiss, Elsau originally but when I lived there I met an awful lot of Huber in southern Bavaria. Looking forward to seeing your postings as you learn. Again, welcome to the forum and have fun with it as a sense of humor and thick skin is required.

Welcome to the UHH. We have members world-wide. Not everyone though chooses to reveal their location. Most do, which is helpful when answering wildlife questions. Some members are Professionals, other members are Amateurs, many (like myself*) are Advanced Hobbyists, and a few just think they are Pros.
*I have in the past done Professional Museum Photography.
Welcome Silke, looking forward to seeing some pictures of the Bavarian countryside. Sorry about your loss.

Welcome to UHH.
The book "Understanding Exposure" by Bryan Peterson will help you with Aperture as well as Shutter Speed and ISO and how they work together.
Silky from Bavaria .., welcome to the forum ... you are certainly in a beautiful part of Germany .. a camera is a must have ...in that location ..follow the suggestions of the HOG .. and the sights they post regarding articles ... f stop etc . Study your cannon instruction book .. and ask questions .., post a few shots ..., ask for critique .. and away you go ..
As 99.9% of us are not in Bavaria .., You have the opportunity to post some shots that will be of interest to all of us ...
I have attached my only connection I have to your nationality .., my wife's Bug .., the only one this model in Hawaii .. it is German and great fun ... I'm sure your shots will be as well ...
Welcome! Looking forward to your posts and pictures. Happy shooting!
