I was sifting through older images from a burlesque show that I attended her in Austin at the Spiderhouse Ballroom.
One of the few venues that have a beautiful old wooden stage and red velvet drapes, a perfect setting for the Burly Q performances. The ladies are amazing performers...very creative.

Nice work. These photos remind me of my first trip to a burlesque house in Indianapolis when I was sixteen--the old, now defunct Fox Theater.

Old memories ...... the night before I caught the train to Chicago to begin Navy Boot Camp (I was 18 at the time) , a bunch of guys visited a Burlesque in Detroit. The old "bump and grind" was still practiced there, as well covering up the interesting parts with pasties. That's an era gone by I suspect.

Actually, as I mention to another UHH member, it has made quite a come back that last few years. Currently the most famous of late in Miss Dita Von Tease, she performs pretty much world wide.
Larger cities, LA, NY, Chicago, Dallas...etc have shows, Just do a search and you'll be surprised to maybe find one close to your own town or city. It seems to be a sub-culture, so check your local smaller venues.

Many thanks for posting ... when I see the older styles I always think of "class" not the "trash" that we find every where today ... ! Of course, I could just be showing my age ...

These old photos bring back memories: While in High School my buddies and I went to the Michigan State Fair. Naturally young, inquisitive, and pure at heart and wanting to report observable sin to the Baptist Church we went to the Burlesque show!!
What confounded the Science in my soul was how that woman twirled one tassel clock wise and the other counter clock wise ... both at the same time. After taking a lot of physics courses, the closest answer was in Atomic and Nuclear Physics where there was counter rotation of the Protons in an H2 molecule. Exciting but not as exciting as that B show.

I keep thinking back to the comics (Top Banana, Second Banana) who performed between the tease acts. These guys were FUNNY! Almost worth the price of admission alone.
